Light modern kitchen

What the client needed

A semi-retired couple wanted a kitchen that they could relax in and enjoy with friends and family.
Their existing kitchen was outdated and bland, which made it hard to fall in love with the space. They were especially looking for light cohesive colours, to make the space feel calming and stylish.
Another priority was easy access to everyday items and sufficient storage.

Our part of the project

We worked with their designer who chose the colours and basic lay out. We made the plan to suit the space, making sure that we addressed each of their concerns. Keeping the same footprint as the old kitchen, we added more drawers, a pantry that utilised the space and integrated appliances to keep a cohesive look. We chose a light timber look melamine for its hardwearing nature and natural stone benchtops to bring in a natural aesthetic to work with the timber grain.
Custom touches included a coffee station nook down the side of the pantry, using an otherwise dead space to store a large, everyday item.
The result is a kitchen that feels welcoming, timeless and ties back to the client’s original vision.

Additional Project Info

Additionally we created a wall unit to match the kitchen by using an offcut from the kitchen benchtop. But making it its own unit by adding a different texture to let it shine on its own. We also transformed the powder room so it can tie in with the rest of the space.

Upstairs we built a custom timber to show off their books, photos and collections. In this space they wanted to go with a more cosy feel with the dark timber accents and shelving around the room so they could be surrounded by the memories they have made.
