A Modern Country Kitchen

What the client needed

The client had a new home built on their acreage property. They wanted something spacious and inviting for all their friends and family to spend time in the kitchen. Wanting to keep with the theme of their property they really liked the country style but also liked the clean and simpleness of modern.
Her personal request was a plate rack to show off her very colourful plates.

Our part of the project

We got them to narrow down what it was about country design that they liked. we took those parts and hand crafted the cupboard doors and finished them with a clean white. They loved the idea of the oven being a centre piece so we extended the small cupboards forward and hand crafted the canopy to resemble a country kitchen fireplace, and keep it in tune with the doors.
Another ‘must have’ for them was to incorporate timber into the kitchen so we handcrafted the island bench out of timber and the mantle piece to tie it in, lastly we made a rustic plate rack out of the same timber.

The couple were very happy to let us go a head with our ideas and were thrilled with the end result.

Additional Project Info

An added part to this project was the butler’s pantry. They wanted somewhere to prepare & store food for large parties so we built open shelved storage, wine rack and space for a bar fridge.

To allow for continuity throughout the house, we also made a laundry room with the same doors and timber feature as the kitchen. The family also required a seating area (or mud room) on one side of the laundry room, for shoes to be removed and prevent mud being dragged through the house during wet winters, which we crafted in the same materials.
