Timber Country Kitchen
What the client needed
This client approached us with a clear vision: a functional yet beautiful kitchen that perfectly fit their lifestyle. They wanted a space that was as practical as it was stylish, incorporating specific features like cabinetry hidden behind sliding doors for their fridge, oven, and pantry.
It was essential for the design to provide easy access to these areas while ensuring the sliding doors didn’t overlap or create unnecessary obstacles. Additionally, they wanted to choose the perfect colors and materials to match the mood they envisioned for their home.
The client had a strong sense of what they liked but needed guidance to refine their ideas and ensure the kitchen’s functionality matched their daily needs. They also required adjustments to some structural elements, such as tweaking walls onsite to fit the fridge seamlessly into the layout.
Our part of the project
To bring their vision to life, we started with detailed plans and elevations to help the client visualize the proportions and layout of their new kitchen. We guided them through their options and even invited them back to discuss potential functionality concerns, ensuring every element of the design suited how they wanted to use the space.
Our showroom proved invaluable in this process. We showcased features they hadn’t seen in person before and gave them a feel for the proportions, helping them make informed decisions about their kitchen. To refine the aesthetic, we painted sample doors for them to test colours, providing advice rooted in our understanding of their mood and style preferences.
When unique challenges arose—like designing the cabinetry behind sliding doors and ensuring everything worked harmoniously—we collaborated closely with them to find solutions. For example, we adjusted the walls onsite to accommodate the fridge, and added voids so drawers didn’t hit the sliding doors, ensuring the final result was flawless.
During the build, we kept the clients informed every step of the way. We invited them to a walkthrough of the kitchen in our workshop before painting, allowing them to see the design in its entirety and choose their final colours with confidence.
Finally, after installation, we visited the completed space for a walkthrough. Together, we discussed the final details, including resolving minor issues with drawer tension caused by power points and adding locks to certain doors for privacy and aesthetics. The result was a kitchen that perfectly matched their vision, offering both beauty and practicality for their everyday life.
